WUMEA stands for Wits University Mining Engineers Association and was formed in 1954. We are an alumni association of Wits University Mining Engineering graduates, associated with the School of Mining Engineering. We are a non-profit organization and our membership is made up of mining engineering graduates and associates. As a non-profit organization we rely on annual membership subscriptions and donations. Our Mission: We seek to promote collegiality amongst mining engineers and to work towards building a formidable mining engineering profession. This is achieved through networking, mentorship and promotion of professionalism. In addition, we provide financial support to needy and deserving students studying towards a mining engineering degree at Wits University.
