The British Infection Association is a registered Charity whose objective is to further the care of patients with infection through the development of guidelines, supporting education, supporting research, providing expert advice, supporting practitioners in infection and disseminating research through the Journal of Infection. Its membership includes consultants and trainees in medical microbiology, medical virology and infectious diseases. Membership is also open to other professionals in the infection, including healthcare scientists, infectious diseases nurses and pharmacists. The British Infection Association was formed in 2008 from the merger of the Association of Medical Microbiologists and the British Infection Society.
