W12Together
www.w12together.orgWe are W12Together, a resident-led partnership, and we are getting together to establish platforms and opportunities where residents of different cultures, ages, abilities and talents come together to make our lives better for each other. We are supported by lottery funding under the ‘Big Local’ programme. Over 2019 we conducted extensive consultations with residents, meeting 320 individuals and organisations. Based on information gathered, we formulated a plan to cover projects in 2020, 2021, and 2022. Despite the considerable wealth and investment around us, deprivation and poverty are big problems in the ward. We know that our ward has twice the national number of households that are deprived in at least three of the four social determinants; employment, education, health and disability, and housing. Wormholt and White City Ward Profile for 2018 shows that 42% of our children grow up in poverty, perhaps because we also have the lowest rate of employment in the borough. Even for those in work, incomes are lower in the Wormholt and White City ward than other wards in Hammersmith and Fulham. Too many of our residents are struggling on too many levels. We are a multi-cultural ward with nearly half of our population born in a foreign country. All seven continents and both hemispheres are represented right here in our community. Such diversity brings challenges, but it also brings great talent from a wealth of cultures. The W12Together board has that same representative diversity and we hope to show that we have the same representative talent as well. Our mission is to represent and give voice to all our residents, to bring people together so we can build partnerships. We aim to help residents solve the problems they face and to accomplish projects that will make a sustainable difference to services and our residents’ futures.
