The Mutual Insurance Association of Iowa (MIAI) is a trade association representing over 80 member Mutual Insurance Companies with more than 300 employees here in Iowa. Mutual insurance companies are owned by their local policyholders, not by shareholders, with the result that they are more responsive to their customers' needs. Most MIAI member mutual insurance companies have been in business over over 100 year serving the needs of rural and small town Iowans.
