The three-day event highlights the area’s cybersecurity, information technology, and entrepreneurial communities and explores emerging technology and innovators in start-up tech, artificial intelligence, robotics, and emerging technologies on the national scene. The summit, which began as an economic development initiative in 2008 by the Greater Pensacola Chamber of Commerce, is hosted by IT Gulf Coast to highlight the Pensacola, Florida area’s growing and diverse cybersecurity, IT, and entrepreneurial industries, as well as its ties to the national scene. GROWING THE CYBER COAST In 2012, as the Gulf Coast’s growing tech scene grew, ITEN WIRED expanded to nearby Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Escambia, and Baldwin counties, leading many to think ITEN WIRED’s name originated from these interstate (I-10) locations. ITEN WIRED also ope rates as a not-for-profit (501(c)6), tourism-focused, community event with proceeds being donated back to local STEM initiatives, including an endowment with the University of West Florida’s College of Science and Engineering.
