The African Community Economic Development of New England (ACEDONE) was founded in 2002 with the aim of assisting refugees from conflict regions of East Africa namely Somalia, Ethiopia and Sudan residing in the Greater Boston area with access to educational, cultural, social and economic resources to help break the cycle of despair. ACEDONE is a second phase community organization that utilizes education and leadership/organizing strategies to help families and the community achieve long-term success and economic stability. ACEDONE provides opportunities for African refugees and immigrants to adapt and succeed in their new environments. Our leadership development, civic engagement and community organizing strategies includes academic enrichment, family support services, job training, career counseling, and business development. Our programs benefit over 3,000 youth and adults annually. Through the years, ACEDONE has extended a cooperative arm through the pan-African diaspora within the United States and runs several programs including After school and summer programs, civic engagement, college readiness and family support, psycho-social wellness and a recently opened small business development center for entrepreneurs
