Attachment focuses on relationships and the ability/inability to be relational. Additionally, the focus is on trauma, abuse, abandonment, codependency and shame. We believe that Addiction is Addiction, whether it involves sex and love addiction, substance abuse disorder, eating disorder or any other addictive substance or behavior. Addiction treatment in the United States has been very unsuccessful in that we have avoided dealing with underlying core issues and have focused on a crash course on the 12 steps. Although the 12 steps are important, avoidance of underlying issues misses the mark. Addiction Rehab Centers believes that individuals can learn and practice the 12 steps in 12 step meetings and participate in therapy in treatment.
