The National Capstone Consortium is an open-source collaborative of educators represented by a diverse range of schools — public and independent, large and small, day and boarding — from across the country. The capstone programs they represent are similarly diverse, which yields a rich pool of experiences and perspectives. Members of the National Capstone Consortium believe that long-term authentic and personalized academic research projects culminating in a formal community presentation have the potential to be transformative educational tools. Most capstone projects incorporate embodied or experiential learning alongside traditional text-based academic work. Active participants of the Capstone Consortium network with educational leaders from like-minded schools to examine, improve, and expand the reach of this kind of education.
