Rhondda Netball

Rhondda Netball is a community based sports charity (Reg’d No 1170778) that works in partnership with local schools throughout RCT. We benefit the local community by giving young girls and women opportunities to take part in sport through our out-of-school and in-school provision. We aim to give girls equal opportunities to those that boys have in Rhondda and RCT, so that females are motivated to live healthy and active lives whilst building their self belief and self esteem. Our coaches and programmes promote a strong lifestyle message that is shaped with a netball emphasis, encouraging strong character values such as confidence, respect and perseverance. In no particular order Rhondda Netball aims to improve the quality of life of participants by encouraging health & fitness, purpose, aspiration, confidence, skills development, motivation and team ethic. Rhondda Netball was established in September 2016 and the out-of-school and in-school participation levels have been amazing. With the support of 5 local secondary schools we launched 5 clubs and we initiated schools leagues in partnership with a host of RCT secondary schools at Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 & Key Stage 5. During the pilot period, our out-of-school participation focused on Under 11’s & Under 13’s in Rhondda and we saw over 250 girls take part with an average of over 200 girls per week which highlighted the great need for female sports provision. Our 16+ out-of-school provision had just under 70 girls and women take part and the RCT schools leagues and competitions we established covered the in-school provision for just under 400 girls
