Our mission is to help level the playing field for disadvantaged children. A college education is the primary determinant of a young person’s future earning power and contribution to society. College today is both hard to get into and challenging to afford. Moreover, there are tremendous advantages throughout the college admissions process afforded to those with financial resources and denied to those without access to those resources. For example, standardized test scores, which are a heavily weighted factor in college admissions, can be increased by 5-10% on average through private tutoring. Such an increase in test scores alone can impact the school a student is admitted to as well as the scholarships and financial assistance offered. Therefore, one of the most impactful and efficient ways to improve a student’s chances of getting into a college of choice and/or to earn academic scholarships is to provide private SAT tutoring sponsorships. To provide this support directly to students, Blue Sky created its Academic Counseling and College Entrance Support and Success (A.C.C.E.S.S) program scholarship and offers it to students who qualify based on both need and merit. By providing the same tools and strategies utilized by students with more means, A.C.C.E.S.S attempts to create an equitable opportunity for low-income students throughout the college application process.
