Longleigh Foundation

www.longleigh.org

The Longleigh Foundation was set up in 2015 by a leading social housing provider in response to reductions in public spending and changes in Welfare Reform. Individuals and communities served by the social housing sector were experiencing greater vulnerabilities, disadvantages, and increased financial and emotional distress due to the cutbacks to – and even the disappearance of – local public and community services. This situation has increased over the last five years and is being further compounded due to the coronavirus pandemic. We are in the minority of grant-making foundations in that we run grants programmes for both individuals and organisations. In the last two years, the amount of funding we have distributed to social housing residents has increased by 3000% and our grants to organisations by more than 400%, proving that our model is needed more than ever. We are able to bring the learning from our individual grants programme into our grants to organisations, as well as staying aware of the emerging social themes affecting those served by the social housing sector. By being an integral, strategic partner, Longleigh’s model helps social housing providers do more than can be done as landlords alone. Our dedication to our work means that the boards and executive teams in social housing organisations can focus on their core business, knowing that their desire to provide ‘more than a home’ for their residents is being continually addressed. We have recognised that, alongside social housing organisations, there are also many community anchor organisations that engage with the very individuals and communities we are committed to reaching. We believe that our model can be of added-value to these organisations too. To open a conversation about whether the Longleigh approach is of interest to your social housing or community-anchor organisation, please send us an email on [email protected] or phone us on 020 7164 6199
