The CDI Foundation is a non-profit making and non-commercial organisation funded by the chemical industry. CDI’s core membership currently consists of 70 international Chemical Companies. CDI is responsible for the accreditation of inspectors and auditors to provide inspection and audit reports for use in the risk assessment process in the chemical industry. The three CDI schemes are each managed by their own Executive Boards, made up of individual representatives from the chemical company participants. There are over 150 CDI accredited global inspectors and auditors who can conduct CDI inspections and audits around the world. In addition to meeting academic and industry experience criteria, the inspectors and auditors are trained, examined and performance monitored in the field. Accreditation certificates remain the property of CDI and individuals failing to meet the continuous rigorous standards have their certification revoked. 1994, CDI-Marine CDI-M was created by the chemical industry to improve the safety and quality performance of bulk liquid shipping on chemical tankers. CDI-M now provides annual inspection reports on the world fleet of chemical and liquid petroleum gas tankers, The inspections are conducted by CDI-M Accredited inspectors located in ports around the world. 1997, CDI-Terminals The CDI-T scheme was developed in 1997 its purpose is to improve the safety and quality performance of bulk liquid storage terminals. 2002, International Marine Packed Cargo Audit Scheme (IMPCAS) The largest scheme of its kind in the world, with auditors based in the major container handling ports. Developed to provide audit reports on each category of service provider involved in the logistic distribution supply chain, the scheme extends to include: Shipping Companies, Ships, Tank Container Operators, Container Freight Stations, Freight Forwarders, Agents, and Container Terminals.
