Wonder-Space
www.wonder-space.comWONDER-SPACE began in 2002 as the brainchild of Emmie Chang and Josefa Marquez, two graduating seniors from Rice University's Electrical Engineering Program in Houston, TX. One evening while taking a break from an arduous engineering problem set, a discussion between them about why they had chosen to study electrical engineering led to the mutual discovery that neither Emmie nor Josefa had come to college with much exposure to "high tech" technology. With the desire to familiarize students in middle and high school with engineering and technology principles in a fun and invigorating way, Emmie and Josefa created Wonder-Space, a place for campers to acquire a passion for, and skills with, technology, creativity, and teamwork that will enable them to take up and lead in tomorrow's tech-defined world with enthusiasm, vision, confidence, and ingenuity. In 2002, Leadership Rice—a Rice University program that encourages undergraduate students to explore their leadership and entrepreneurial potential—saw merit in the WONDER-SPACE vision, providing the initial funding and support for Wonder-Space Computer Camps. Today, Wonder-Space is now a full-fledged educational learning center with computer camps, educational programs, and proprietary software technology. Plus, we're on the verge of going national!
