Parangtritis Geomaritime Science Park

Parangtritis Geomaritime Science Park (PGSP) is facilitated by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemenristek Dikti) and the Government of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), managed jointly between the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG), Gadjah Mada University (UGM), and the Bantul Regency Government . Together with the Government of Yogyakarta and Bantul Regency, PGSP has a role as a partner in accelerating the economic growth of the community in the aspects of tourism, agriculture, coastal and marine. PGSP also acts as a center for sand dune conservation and the development of the Sand Dune Museum as a center for education and research. The journey of PGSP began in 2002 at that time called the Parangtritis Coastal Geospatial Laboratory (LGPP) and the Sand Dune Museum. Parangtritis Coastal Geospatial Laboratory was revitalized to PGSP for three reasons: (1) increasingly sophisticated technological developments (2) as a realization of the Nawacita Program proposed by Indonesian President Joko Widodo in 2014 and (3) implementation of the 2015-2019 RPJMN. The nomenclature of Geomaritime is used as a transdisciplinary science in the effort to manage and utilize the maritime sector from a spatial perspective (spatial) for the welfare of coastal communities in particular. The concept as a science park is an area that is managed by professional management to encourage sustainable growth through the mastery, development and application of relevant knowledge and knowledge.
