NAWIRI SISTERS FOUNDATION

www.nawirisist3rs.org

Nawiri Sisters Foundation aims to fight shame and restore dignity to adolescent girls through mentorship and provision of sanitary towels. The initiative is implemented through the Hadhi (dignity) Triangle, a concept that brings together adolescent girls in institutions and pairs them with a youth mentor (university students) from the region and stakeholders (teachers, parents, partners, donors and the community). The collaboration between these partners is critical in holistically addressing period stigma among adolescent girls by creating awareness, providing information and establishing a counter-narrative to that of taboos, myths and stigma around menstruation, while providing menstrual hygiene materials. The Foundation has so far been able to directly reach over 1000 adolescent girls from Madaraka Primary School, Ngei Primary School, Saint Aloysius Gonzaga, Baraka za Ibrahim children centre, Wings of Compassion and surrounding communities, all in Nairobi County. Core-Values: Integrity, Transparency , Accountability, Responsiveness , Inclusivity, Sustainability. Vision: To eradicate period stigma in Africa. Mission: To address period stigma among adolescent girls through mentorship and provision of menstrual health management products and education, leveraging on the support of volunteers, donors, and other stakeholders.
