MenzFit
www.menzfit.orgMenzFit changes lives, families and communities by ensuring long-term gainful employment and financial fitness to disadvantaged men. We do this through strategies designed to ease the transition from marginal employment and chronic unemployment to gainful employment by preparing clients for re-entry into the workforce through skills training, coaching, interview-appropriate clothing, ongoing career development support and financial literacy. For nearly MenzFit has helped more than 6,500 men in Washington, DC and Philadelphia. This success has created more than $54,000,000 in taxable income, based on a average salary of $17,000. Our clients are terminated or laid off workers, recent immigrants, recovering substance abusers, the disabled, ex offenders, public assistance recipients and veterans. Others are those who may have encountered some situation that rendered them under or unemployed. There is a growing recognition that men are in need of the same kinds of employment and supportive services that are typically made available to women. It is our strategic intent to be at the forefront of a movement to aid low-income men in fully realizing greater potential in order to exercise greater personal liberty. We provide each client with one suit when he has a scheduled interview and a week's worth of clothing when he lands the job. Clients also receive free tailoring and haircut services if needed. MenzFit services build and increase confidence levels, making it easier for men to secure decent work and provide for their family which is a giant step towards self-sufficiency. The economy will only continue to improve when the citizens of Philadelphia gain employment and re-invest in their community. When our neighbors succeed we all benefit.
