www.championshockeyleague.comPursuing the vision to be Europe’s greatest ice hockey competition, the Champions Hockey League provides 32 teams from 13 leagues with the platform to go beyond and to battle in a total of 125 games from August to February to be Champions of Europe. Headquartered in Zug, Switzerland, the Champions Hockey League AG (CHL) is the company holding all rights of the competition and organising the event. CHL is an AG (Aktiengesellschaft = Ltd.) registered under Swiss Law. As such, the CHL is owned by shareholders and governed by a board which is elected at the CHL General Meeting, the league’s legislative body. The shareholding structure of the company is as follows: 63% percent of the shares are owned by 26 European Clubs, 25% belong to 6 National Leagues and 12% are held by the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF. The Champions Hockey League has started its operations in 2014/15 and has crowned six Champions so far: 2019/20: Frölunda Indians (SWE) 2018/19: Frölunda Indians (SWE) 2017/18: JYP Jyväskylä (FIN) 2016/17: Frölunda Indians (SWE) 2015/16: Frölunda Indians (SWE) 2014/15: Luleå Hockey (SWE) Since 2017/18 teams qualify for the Champions Hockey League on pure sporting merits via their domestic leagues. Places per country are allocated via a performance-based league ranking. Prize money is increasing season by season to a total of 3.5 Mio. Euro in 2022/23. In December 2019, the CHL and its media and marketing partner Infront have agreed on an early renewal of their partnership until 2027/28, which gives the league a stable base to develop. CHL games are currently broadcasted in 60+ territories with longterm contracts in core markets.
