We Are The 22 is a nonprofit, volunteer-driven organization fighting the veteran suicide epidemic through veteran-to-veteran, face-to-face, suicide intervention. There are several organizations with "22" in their name, and that is because it represents the number of veterans who commit suicide each day. We're unique. When alerted of a veteran in suicidal crisis, we dispatch a two-person team of fully trained and equipped veterans to that veteran in crisis, at the time of crisis. The team puts on body armor, grabs a trauma kit that includes NARCAN and tourniquet, and we GO TO the veteran. We're currently only operating in Arkansas but are very eager to expand beyond our state lines. The only thing holding us back is the financial resources to do so. Our strategy works and saves lives. To date, we've successfully responded to well over 400 veterans who were in suicidal crisis.
