The purpose of Virginia Clean Cities (VCC) is to assist in the improvement of the Commonwealth of Virginia’s air quality, increase U.S. national energy security, and promote economic, academic, and research opportunities in Virginia, primarily by promoting and facilitating increased use of alternative fuels and vehicles. Clean Cities partnerships across the nation address the challenge of moving the United States away from the infrastructure and practices that contribute to the nation’s dependence on imported petroleum and toward energy independence and security. VCC is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy and is supported by a large, diverse group of local and national stakeholders.
