Hope Instilled
www.hopeinstilled.orgHope Instilled is a chronic pain resource center - "An oasis from the darkness of pain". Hope Against Pain is an action-based, peer-to-peer chronic pain support group. Chronic pain is any pain which lasts longer than 3 months. In America, chronic pain affects about 126 million. A survey by the American Academy of Pain Medicine found that even comprehensive treatment with painkilling prescription drugs helps, on average, only about 58% of people with chronic pain. Information is scattered far and wide when it comes to chronic pain. The accompanying depression and anxiety makes it all the more difficult for a person to look for answers and seek help. What are the medical terms doctors use? What are alternative treatments? Does nutrition make a difference? Where can I just vent in a safe and judgement free place? We bring people together who are living with chronic pain. We offer a place to talk about how the pain affects their life, a chance to speak freely about the challenges chronic pain presents. Pain may never fully go away, so learning to better live with one's pain is very important. Our goal is to be a resource center of information regarding the world of chronic pain. We do not have all the answers. However, we offer information not normally found about how to better live with pain. We do not intend to be, nor should we be considered a source for a diagnosis of any pain or condition one may have. We do not replace a good pain management program, but add to it the missing piece. This missing piece is a place for people to talk peer-to-peer with others who also are living with chronic pain. Loving family support is incredibly beneficial to us all, however, unless they have experienced chronic pain they aren't able to truly understand.
