The Student Investment Management Group is a team of students who invest and monitor a student-managed securities fund, with the assistance of faculty advisors. The Group was formed through the inspiration and generosity of Congressman Frank J. Guarini, as a result of a $100,000 grant, with the objective to provide students with the opportunity to engage in the actual world of investment through active participation in the management of a significant investment portfolio. The group seeks to become the benchmark for the application of the study of finance in a university setting. The business of the Group is the real world application of the analytical theory of finance for the education of NJCU students, emphasizing ethics and due diligence. The obligation of the group is to outpace the rate of return of the S&P 500 on an annual basis by exploiting opportunities in various investment vehicles.
