www.iowautility.orgWorking on behalf of Iowa's Investor-Owned Electric, Natural Gas and Transmission Utilities The Iowa Utility Association (IUA) was formed in 1971 to develop, organize and promote improvement in the common business interests and conditions of Iowa's investor-owned electric, natural gas & transmission utilities. Prior to the formation of the IUA and dating back to the mid-1940s, there had been an informal working relationship among investor-owned utilities to address statewide programs and industry issues. Today, the IUA operates as a 501(c)6 non-profit corporation. From its offices near the capitol in Des Moines, the IUA works with personnel from its member companies to develop, coordinate and promote common industry public policy. In addition, the IUA organizes various forums to advance public understanding of industry issues and economic development initiatives. Members: • Alliant Energy: Provides service in Iowa through Interstate Power & Light Company, Cedar Rapids, IA • Black Hills Energy: Provides service in CO, IA, KS, MT, NE, SD & WY • MidAmerican Energy Company: The largest utility in IA. Provides service to customers from Sioux Falls, SD, to Quad Cities area of IA and IL • Nextera Energy Duane Arnold: Iowa's only nuclear power plant • ITC Midwest: Provides service in IL, MI, MN and MO • Liberty Utilities: Provides service to communities of Keokuk, IA and Montrose, IA The energy utilities above are regulated by the Iowa Utilities Board (IUB) for rates and service.
