Free ICT Europe (FIE) is a non-profit organisation actively promoting the ICT Secondary Market within Europe. Our objective is to secure the right of ownership and the freedom for consumers and businesses alike to freely choose their sales, maintenance and repair providers. Our focus is on addressing the restrictive practices undertaken by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Software publishers. FIE is recognised by the EU as representative of the interests of all operators within this market including MVS/Third Party Maintainers, Repairers, ICT Refurbishers, ICT Brokers, Software Support Organisations, Used Software Resellers and Rental/Leasing Companies. Why Free ICT Europe? • We need to create awareness of our industry with policymakers; • Create a United Voice from a market that misses a representing body in Europe • Towards End Users it is helpful to have a body that stands up to protect the rights of ownership. FIE is in contact with the European Parliament, the European Commission, held presentations at different EU Departments and provides input to discussions/consultations and lobbies pro-actively. As official representative we get invitations from the EU to participate in projects and consultations.
