New International Encounter (NIE) is an international company that creates new theatre shows and participation projects with young people through a mix of physical theatre, multiple languages, live music, storytelling and an ensemble. We create spellbinding theatre working in 34 countries spanning 4 continents, from New York, Cape Town to Shanghai. We are a resident company at Cambridge Junction with an office in Oslo, Norway and performers living across Europe. Teaching has always been at the heart of NIE’s work, as has playing in schools, colleges and non-theatre spaces. We deliver a variety of educational activity, this includes workshops for schools and colleges as well as mentoring and masterclasses for professionals. NIE’s awards include the Herald Angel and Total Theatre Award in Edinburgh , the Jury Prize for best new work at the ASSITEJ festival in Kristisand (Norway) and the Grand Prix for new and innovative work at the Tiba Festival in Belgrade (Serbia).
