www.theawaremind.orgThe mission of The Aware Mind is, “to help other women like myself successfully navigate their menopause journey with information, education and support.” The Aware Mind aims to provide excellence in education and support for women regarding perimenopause and menopause, based in the workplace. Helen, a qualified menopause coach, mindfulness teacher and counsellor (Dip.Psychology and Counselling) with over 30 years of experience in the IT industry, founded The Aware Mind. She decided to start The Aware Mind after realising that her own experiences with menopause and mentoring in the workplace could benefit others. Helen had a surgical menopause at 33 following severe endometriosis, and her consequent encounters in the workplace trying to manage a senior operational role whilst struggling with menopause symptoms resulted in her leaving her corporate employment after 7 years and becoming self-employed. The lack of management and medical support received, her own misunderstanding of the symptoms she was experiencing, caused a significant impact to her work and family life. Unable to take HRT, Helen used alternative therapies to support her menopause journey, such as mindfulness. In order to help others have a better experience, Helen trained as a menopause coach and also as a mindfulness teacher. She is qualified with a diploma in Psychology and Counselling. The Aware Mind is focussed on utilising the support of awareness to enable women to live a considered life where the management of the menopause can become a positive experience.
