DKMullin Architects approaches each design problem with the belief that even the most mundane and basic problem offers creative and sustainable solutions, regardless of the project's social or economic backdrop. DKMullin Architects began as a sole proprietorship in San Francisco, CA in 1996. The office moved to its present location in Moscow, ID in 1998 in order to supplement Daniel's new position teaching at the University of Idaho. Although Daniel is not engaged in teaching at this time, the proximity to university life, continued education, and access to young talent has been an invaluable asset to the office. Since 1998 the office has ventured out towards various building typologies and has garnered several institutional projects including the Moscow Charter School and the St. Mary's Catholic School Expansion. In addition, the office has designed two dental office projects with design award citations offered for the Peterson Dental Office. The office has developed a proclivity towards adaptive reuse/ preservation projects from New York City to Moscow, with local projects, One World Cafe and Moscow Food COOP. National projects include work for clients such as Planet Fitness, The Original Soupman, Pandora's Jewelers, and Gloria Jeans Coffees. DKMullin Architects has participated in national and international design competitions with design awards for two national design programs via the AIA and entry in the U2 Landmarks international competition in 2002. The office aims to enter into at least two competitions per fiscal year.
