Building is the first process in aggregating data into a single source of truth. It’s been our experience that the vast majority of data, especially large and messy data sets, otherwise known as big data required conditioning into a valid source. It is our opinion that using Matillion will allow construction and architecture companies to take their diverse data sources and aggregate them into a single source of truth, which would then reside on the cloud. This is the first stage, building. The next stage, data would be to utilize the source of truth data set to gain insights into the running of the company for our clients, their operations, and quite possibly their marketing intelligence. This would be done using a visualization package on the data set that would allow the company to realize - to reveal insights in the data by combining different columns from the data into meaningful visualizations, representations that could then be used to present internally and externally value. Better is an optimization phase that is enabled by the analysis and visualization phase. Better includes optimization of labour costs, avoidance of mistakes through real-time analysis of incoming data. It’s also better business intelligence using external data sources that can be layered on top of the internal source of truth. It’s also being able to present strategies based on fact. So data-driven decision making is another way to realize value. Accounting traditionally requires human interaction and it’s a very repetitive job. If you can analyze your accounting practices and then use the data integration techniques to create an automation you can free up your accounting staff, that’s another return on investment.
