Context One Archaeological Services Ltd.
www.contextone.co.ukContext One Archaeological Services is a small independent organisation offering a high quality range of archaeological services for those who require specialist advice in the study of the past. Based in Wincanton, Somerset, we provide a rapid response to requests for our services across the south of England. Most of our work involves carrying out commercial archaeological projects for developers, architects and the public sector as part of the planning process. This includes compiling desk-based assessments on the potential impact to any archaeological remains through proposed development, monitoring building works that may unearth evidence of previous occupation, evaluating areas through small-scale excavations (including environmental coring), and undertaking full excavation of sites where preservation in situ cannot be achieved. We also carry out a range of non-invasive fieldwork techniques such as historic building recording, geophysical survey, topographic and earthwork surveys, fieldwalking, shovel pit testing and aerial photo transcription. We welcome enquiries from private individuals to large commercial organisations and public sector departments. We are also pleased to hear from those who have a general interest in archaeology and might wish to take part in our research projects.
