Holland Ridge Farms

Holland Ridge Farms is set on 153 acres of preserved farmland in Cream Ridge, New Jersey. It currently hosts two annual flower festivals – tulips in the Spring and sunflowers in the Fall. For over 200 years the land was owned by the Rue family and functioned primarily as a dairy farm (as you wander the farm buildings, you can still see remnants of its dairy past). After the passing of George R. Rue in 2012, the farm was retired until it caught the eye of two local flower growers Casey Jansen Sr and Jr. They acquired the land with the goal of transforming it into a floral escape for the public to enjoy. At the head of the Jansen family is Casey Sr, a 3rd generation Dutch bulb grower who moved to the USA in the 1964 and has been growing plants and flowers ever since. Alongside Sr sits his son and protégé Casey Jr. Together they manage greenhouses in the local area that supply fresh cut flowers to supermarkets up and down the East Coast. Casey Sr. had had always wanted to share his love of flowers, and his native Holland, with the public. When the father and son team came across the Rue family farm, they knew they had found the perfect location for his vision. The entire Jansen family spent months and months lovingly restoring the farm to its former glory and also began incorporating their Dutch heritage. In the Fall of 2017 they planted more than 1 million tulip bulbs in preparation for a tulip festival – the first of its kind on the East Coast. In April 2018 they opened the gates to the public and the response was overwhelmingly positive. Tens of thousands of visitors flocked to the farm to experience the rows a rows of colorful tulips. The family were blown away by how much people enjoyed the experience they had created, and immediately began setting their sights on the future potential of Holland Ridge Farms. Building on the success of the tulips, the family added a sunflower festival in the Fall of 2018.
