Ottawa Showbox is one of the capital’s leading resources for local music news. It’s also the best way for people to stay in touch with music industry activity in Ottawa. Our scope is community-focused, and our purpose is to uncover and disseminate the music that is exploding out of this city. Furthermore, we’re no longer just a website. We promote shows, collaborate with industry/community partners, and advocate for policy which strengthens the music scene. As of January 2020, we’re proud to announce that we will be directly collaborating with Algonquin College and incorporating Ottawa Showbox into its curriculum as a part of its School of Media & Design. This partnership began in January 2020 with four programs—Journalism, Radio Broadcasting, Public Relations, and Advertising and Marketing—with more program collaborations to be rolled-out throughout 2020. Matías Muñoz founded Ottawa Showbox in 2012. Showbox is incorporated as a not-for-profit and serves the artistic community in Ottawa. He remains Executive Director and Editor-in-Chief on the editorial board for Ottawa Showbox.
