Girls on the Run Minnesota
www.gotrmn.orgGirls on the Run is a transformational physical activity based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. We teach life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K. Girls on the Run Twin Cities hosts the largest youth 5K in the state of Minnesota. Girls on the Run Twin Cities is a network of 200+ teams serving more than 5,000 girls annually from Rochester to Becker. Since 2012, Girls on the Run Twin Cities has served 10,411 girls. The program inspires girls to build lives of purpose and to make a meaningful contribution to community and society. This came to life through over 260 community impact projects created and executed by each Girls on the Run team in 2018. Program goals of social, psychological, and physical development are achieved through the efforts of over 1,500 volunteers each year. The volunteers serve as role models to the girls through coaching the 10-week, 20 lesson curricula. The curriculum is delivered in these areas through after-school programs, recreation centers and other non-profit settings. Girls on the Run Twin Cities is a council with in Girls on the Run International. Mission: We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. Vision: We envision a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams.
