St. Peters Kitchen
www.stpeterskitchen.orgSt. Peter’s Soup Kitchen has been serving the West Side Community of the City of Rochester since 1982. We serve a well-balanced lunch to an average 130 people a day, Monday through Friday. Our guests come from all walks of life; many have troubles with addiction, mental illness, physical illness, lost homes and low wage earnings. We are a non-referral agency, meaning anyone who walks through our doors are welcome to share in a meal. Over the past 35 years, we have been building a strong and connected community and have gained the trust of the people who we serve. As a result of providing an average of 30,000 hot lunches a year, we have become a hub in our neighborhood. This enables us to act as a base from which to address the root causes of the poverty that the majority of our guests experience. In addition to providing lunches, we provide emergency rent/utilities assistance on a case-by-case-basis, serve as a distribution location for Foodlink's Mobile Food Pantries, and provide other community programs to meet the needs of the folks who eat at our table. Looking to the future, we are excited to collaborate with other human services providers in the area to better address Rochester's systemic poverty and income inequality.
