The Not Forgotten

www.thenotforgotten.org

The Not Forgotten puts the fun, enthusiasm, energy and enjoyment back into the life service men, women and veterans who have served their country and taken a knock. Founded in 1920 ‘for the comfort, cheer and entertainment’ of servicemen injured in the Great War, today the Association remains true to its original principles of providing entertainment and recreation for any serving man or woman who is wounded, injured or sick and any veteran from the tri-service community and the Merchant Navy. Our dedicated team of 7 staff support some 10,000 individuals each year through a unique and varied programme of tailored activities and events, bringing some cheer and comfort to those who have served their country and are now in need. With the ethos of ‘From Comradeship to Challenge’, the NFA aim to integrate veterans from every campaign from the Second World War to the current day - our oldest veteran is 105 and our youngest serving beneficiary is 20 - over a wide range of activities including Royal Parties at Buckingham Palace and St James’s Palace, 80 concerts, and the more energetic alpine canoeing in the French Alps, sailing on the Solent, skiing in Colorado and trekking in Iceland. Not only do these events bring like-minded individuals together to reflect on life in the Armed Forces, but they unite persons with a range of illnesses and disabilities from sufferers of PTSD, amputees and others with a variety of injuries - including some still serving but undergoing rehabilitation – together as a team.
