When the "Victrola" was introduced it was added to our product line. This later gave birth to the radio. Charles E. Sohns, son of J.A.A ., entered the business after his graduation from Walden High School at the young age of 15. Under Charles the business grew steadily adding televisions and appliances along the way. The first television set was shown by Sohns in 1939, although only a prototype. Charles' son Jeffery entered the business full time in 1962 upon his graduation from college. Two major expansions have taken place since he started here over 50 years ago, making Sohns one of the Hudson Valley's largest independent appliance outlets. John Sohns, the fourth generation, entered the business in 1989 upon his graduation from Marist College. He was appointed President of Sohns Appliance Center in 2002. The business continues to flourish under his ownership. Johns looks to the future with great enthusiasm to continue the legacy his great grandfather started over 100 years ago. The business in now entering its fifth generation with the entrance of Ethan Sherwood, John’s nephew and Jeffery’s grandson. Ethan enters the business upon his graduation from Castleton University in 2019. John and Ethan are looking to the future with great enthusiasm to continue the legacy their great and great-great grandfather started over 100 years ago.
