St Ives Town Council operates at the most local level of local government. 16 Councillors are elected for a term of four years and those currently elected will now hold office until May 2021, serving the town and surrounding areas in a voluntary capacity. The town council was established in 1974, following the reorganisation of local government at that time, and has continued to uphold many of the traditions and ceremonies of the former Borough.
