The Equity Advantage
www.theequityadvantage.orgThe Equity Advantage (TEA) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to closing disparity gaps due to race. We have had the privilege of advising and collaborating with many of the world’s most extraordinary social change leaders including for-profit corporations, philanthropists, nonprofit and NGO leaders, and impact investors. At TEA, we believe that to make an impact on eliminating racial disparities, it is not enough to break down systemic and structural racial barriers. In order to have a significant impact, one must also simultaneously help historically disenfranchised communities take advantage of opportunities created as barriers are taken down. Our work efforts are centered around two key domains: 1. Direct-Action The causes we champion provide the preparedness required to take advantage of the opportunities created as systemic and structural barriers are taken down. The causes are: • Education: PreK – 5 Reading. Extra reading classes for those who may have fallen behind • Education: Closing opportunity gaps in Middle and High School students in Reading, Writing and Math • Health and Education Intersection: Removing the barriers that lack of healthcare places on learning 2. Advisory and Consulting This embodies the advisory and consulting work TEA does with private and public companies, institutions, and organizations to break down systemic and structural barriers due to race, ethnicity, and gender.
