Corazón de Trinidad Creative District
www.corazondetrinidad.orgThe Corazón de Trinidad Creative District is located within the Corazon de Trinidad National Historic District in Trinidad, Colorado. In 2013, the historic Corazón de Trinidad was certified as a Creative District by Colorado Creative Industries, a designation that provides a platform of support for individual creative artists, entrepreneurs, and businesses, as well as the local government. The Corazón de Trinidad Creative District is home to a high concentration of artists, art galleries, studios, theaters, restaurants, creative industries, and recently, Colorado’s newest state park, Fishers Peak. In 2014, Trinidad was selected as the first city in the state's Space to Create Colorado initiative, which aims to make it easier — and affordable — for artists and entrepreneurs to open creative studios and businesses in rural Colorado communities like Trinidad. Today, ArtSpace is transforming the entire 200 block of downtown Main Street into Space to Create Trinidad, a dynamic complex that will combine three historic structures with distinct exteriors, linking the second stories of all three with 13 affordable, live/work apartments for creatives. Six blocks away, adjacent to the historic train depot and across from Cimino Park, ArtSpace is constructing a brand new building with 28 more units of affordable live/work apartments just one block off of Main Street, with views of the mountains and the Purgatory River. Colorado Creative Industries (CCI), the state arts agency and a division of the Colorado Office of Economic Development & International Trade, manages the Colorado Creative Districts program. In partnership with the Boettcher Foundation, CCI provides seed funding and professional expertise to certified creative districts, ensuring that non-profit and for-profit creative businesses, artists and creative entrepreneurs have increased access to financial support, skill development, leadership training and professional networking.
