Since 1972, when Al Berlin launched Video Corporation of America from a storefront in Highland Park, New Jersey, VCA has steadily grown and expanded, offering full-scale design, engineering, project management, fabrication, installation, and support services for the A/V, broadcast, production, and post-production markets from multiple locations. In those early years, Al would spend his mornings delivering newly available professional video equipment to his clients and his afternoons demonstrating its many uses. VCA is proud to be one of the first companies to focus exclusively on video for professional use in the corporate, education, and government markets. VCA was built on a foundation of listening to clients needs and demonstrating innovative emerging technologies to help clients communicate more effectively. Dave Berlin joined the VCA team in 1987, combining his IT background and Fortune 500 experience to move the company into the developing PC workstation and telecommunications business. VCA became the first integrator to move images over phone lines with the first digital photography equipment and image capture cards. This technology ushered in a new wave of video production technology, image transmission, and broadcasting workflows such as non-linear editing. VCA's early recognition of the convergence of open platform computing and how it could be used in the video markets in the late 1980's created opportunities for a new generation of communication. To meet the needs of it growing customer base, the company expanded geographically by opening offices in New York City in 1992, Philadelphia in 1997, and Atlanta in 2015.
