Bay Area Women Against Rape (BAWAR) is the nation's first Rape Crisis Center and is based in Oakland, CA. BAWAR serves individuals of all genders throughout Alameda County who have been directly impacted by sexual violence. BAWAR provides 24 hour crisis hotline, hospital, court and police accompaniament services as well as group and in person counseling. BAWAR also has outreach and prevention education services. BAWAR also offers certified rape crisis advocate training for people who want to volunteer.
