Noahs Pink Balloon Leukaemia Fund
www.noahspinkballoon.comNoah's Pink Balloon Leukaemia Fund was founded in July 2021, in memory and honour of our beautiful son Noah, who was diagnosed with Leukaemia in May 2020 and died at the age of five on 05th June 2020. With medical research at its heart, the Charity will work with best-in class Universities and research institutions to help find a cure for leukaemia and life threatening infections for children with leukaemia hospitalised during treatment because of a highly compromised immune system. We have chosen to fund two highly underfunded areas of medicine - paediatric haematology/oncology and invasive fungal infections where there is an urgency to develop better diagnostic tools, less invasive treatment and improved clinical management for all. We are excited that our first research project will help cover new ground - together with the University of Exeter and the world-renowned MRC Centre for Medical Mycology, we have created Noah's Pink Balloon Leukaemia Fellowship. The Fellow will focus on laboratory work, analysis and subsequent thesis writing to share with the medical community. Such a program directly supports and contributes to finding the best treatment for, and prevention of fungal infections, a feared complication in children undergoing chemotherapy for leukaemia and other malignancies, and in patients receiving a bone marrow or solid organ transplant. 100% of all money raised will go directly into the Fellowship research program. As a charity, we first identify suitable projects and then we fund raise. Our end goal is to create a sustainable legacy for Noah and to ensure longevity to help improve life outcomes for all children and their families faced with a blood cancer diagnosis.
