The Art of Contemporary Yoga school was originally created to address the paradigm shift taking place in the world of human anatomy. This referred to two particular fields of work around Fascia, the connective tissue tensional matrix of the human form - and Biotensegrity. This refers to the way in which the fascia, muscle, bone, nerve and tissue matrix of the body structure is formed and how it functions as a whole. Thus the diploma awarded by the school is in The art of contemporary yoga and the science of body architecture. As a result of many years of teaching, Handspring Publishing invited me to write a book for them, bringing all these aspects together as a working practitioners guide. In the context of yoga (as one of wholeness), the book considers YOGA: Fascia, Anatomy and Movement and the paradigm shift taking place in the 21st century in the world of body work and movement. This book is available from the website (www.joanneavison.com) and brings many aspects of the schools' curriculum to life in a practical way for yoga teachers and practitioners around the world. Various courses can be found at that site as, due to popular demand, different aspects of the training are being made into modules. Watch this space!
