Teacher 2 Teacher offers professional development designed to raise student achievement by providing new learning that can be put into practical use when educators return to their buildings. Many of our trainings have special focus on transitioning to the new state standards to prepare for the new assessments that will be given in school year 2014-15. All of our offerings are geared toward one goal – to increase student achievement. Teacher 2 Teacher directors Marcia Barnhart and Greg Paulmann are experts in the Common Core State Standards as well as curriculum design and instruction. They head of team of educator/presenters who know that teaching that is aligned to the new standards goes much deeper than simply moving content to different grade levels; that teachers need to understand the instructional shifts that the new standards demand; and that these shifts are not explicitly stated in the standards and require new knowledge and application. Too much of today’s professional learning is not up to the task of supporting the substantive changes required of educators to meet these new standards as well as the literacy skills and understandings required for college and career readiness in multiple disciplines. Ours is. Too many plans for supporting the transition to the Common Core and the new assessments read more like communication plans than serious road maps for preparing educators to teach the standards. Ours is a serious road map.
