Ian Dickinson joined the security industry in 1981, after completing his apprenticeship. He joined the installation team of a major North London company, later moving to the Service Department and becoming a Supervisor in 1986. In 1992, Ian was promoted to General Manager and became a Director in 2000. Ian is one of the founders of IP Fire & Security. Steve Kelly joined the industry in 1971, completing an apprenticeship with a national company and eventually joining their installation team. In 1981, Steve joined a major North London company as Installation/Service Supervisor and in 1995, was appointed Service Manager. Steve is one of the founders of IP Fire & Security. Paul Thistlethwaite joined a national company in 1962, after serving a 5 year apprenticeship. He served his time as an Installation Engineer and Service Engineer and in 1974, joined the Bank division of a major international company as a Technical Surveyor. In 1977, Paul transferred to Australia and was appointed Sales Director. In 1979, he formed his own company which he managed with Ian & Steve until 2009.
