Counterpoint Asset Management is a multi-boutique asset management business which places the highest priority on the stewardship of clients’ assets. At inception, Counterpoint’s expertise was weighted towards asset allocation and the construction of multi-asset portfolios. In subsequent years, the firm added further skills and experience to augment their stock picking and credit analysis ability. In March 2020, Counterpoint merged with value manager RECM. The transaction saw RECM and Merchant West Holdings (Pty) Ltd acquire a joint controlling shareholding in the consolidated business. In August 2020, Counterpoint acquired Bridge Fund Managers – adding further depth and scope to the investment team, particularly in the dividend equity and listed property space. Combining assets and skills to create a multi-strategy investment firm not only enhances Counterpoint’s ability to deliver on a wide range of investment mandates, but importantly, scale also allows for an incremental reduction in costs to clients over time.
