Clear Mind Events - Nonprofit

www.clearmindevents.com

Clear Mind Events (CME) is a non-profit which coordinates with event promoters & festival organizers to provide relief spaces at public venues for guest to manage symptoms related to post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety disorder, or autism and sensory processing disorders. Clear Mind Events coordinates on-site setup, management of the relief space and depending on the venue, and on-site tours. Anxiety Disorders are the MOST common mental illness in the U.S., affecting 19.1 million (13.3%) of the adult U.S. population (ages 18-54). Bringing awareness and education reduces the social stigma associated with the disorder. By acknowledging the difficulties in overcoming anxiety disorders and by providing supportive services, a community is created with an understanding and realization that "you are not alone." There are so many other people going through what you are. Let's overcome this; let's create new experiences together because the most common response to anxiety and sensory disorders is avoidance behaviors, which involves avoiding situations that most people consider "normal." Anxiety or panic attacks that take place in public are distressing, and even the fear of having an attack in the midst of strangers leads to avoidance behaviors. When all or most social situations are avoided, personal relationships (friends, family or partners) suffer. Avoidance behaviors limit social interaction and the opportunity to develop social skills. Consistent avoidance correlates with a decline in social opportunity and sometimes isolation, lowering self-esteem. Negative self-talk is perceived as valid, thus causing a cycle of anxiety that can be difficult to break.
