RiceTec was founded in the United States in 1990 in southern Texas. At that time, besides producing rice on its farm, the company had developed technology to genetically enhance its different rice specialties. That same year the company invested in opening new markets and launched the Latin America operations, in Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay, where it has been working for almost 11 years in breeding, research and development, production and the sale of hybrid rice seeds. In Argentina, apart from the research and development work, the company has production fields and a modern seed processing plant. In addition to these countries, RiceTec is already active in markets in Europe, Asia, the Andean Region and Central America. The primary and most important feature of hybrid rice is increased heterosis or hybrid vigor, generally manifested in characteristics such as higher grain yield, grain weight, panicle number per plant, number of grains per panicle, high tillering capacity, higher grain quality and resistance to diseases and insects, among others.
