Baseline IT was started in 2007 by Darren Hemphill and Philip Slimowitz to address a desperate need in South Africa. The SME market was not being allowed to perform to their full potential because of a lack of high quality, low cost and well supported technology. Constantly SME's were frustrated with outdated technology, high IT infrastructure costs, slow support response times and.... when the "IT guy" goes on holiday. We always ask ourselves, why can't the SME receive immediate desktop support? Why can't they have failover 3g routing to remain online when Telkom goes down. Why can't they have full offsite backup coverage of every machine on their network? Why can't they have an internal, auditable Instant Messaging system which extends to their mobile phones to bring staff closer together and lower communication costs? Why can't they have an online, available anywhere, documentation system detailing their processes, policies and all crucial company information? Everytime we present the answer in another low cost, well supported technology solution.
