As a Contemporary Art Centre of the French Community Wallonia-Brussels, the Photography Museum is situated in an ancient renovated neo-gothic Carmelite convent since 1987. Thanks to a new contemporary wing opened in 2008, the museum has nowadays become the broadest and one of the most important photography museum in Europe, displaying more than 2.200 m² exhibition surface with an artistic and technical photography variety. ___ Le Musée de la Photographie, Centre d’art contemporain de la Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles à Charleroi, a été inauguré en 1987 dans l’ancien carmel de Mont-sur-Marchienne. Il est aujourd’hui le plus vaste et un des plus importants musées de la photographie en Europe (6000 m²), avec une collection de 100 000 photographies dont plus de 800 en exposition permanente et la conservation de 1,5 millions de négatifs. ___ Sinds 1987 bevindt het Fotografie Museum, het hedendaagse kunstencentrum van de Federatie Wallonië-Brussel, zich in een gerenoveerd oud karmelietenklooster in neogotische stijl. Dankij de aanbouw van een nieuwe moderne vleugel in 2008 is het vandaag het grootste en één van belangrijkste musea voor fotografie in Europa. De artistieke en technische diversiteit van de fotografie wordt op een oppervlakte van meer dan 2 200 m² tentoongesteld.
