BUILDING CHANGE. CHANGING LIVES. Today in Australia over 6,200 younger people with disability live in nursing homes, some of them because there is simply no alternative. Summer Housing is changing that. Our vision is to ensure people with disability and complex care needs have the opportunity to live in high-quality housing that enables them to be part of their community. We’ve partnered with top tier developers and builders to deliver over 60 apartments across Australia since 2017, with a pipeline of over 300 on track for completion by 2022. Our mission is to expand the range and scale of housing options for people with disability, particularly younger people who live in residential aged care. People with disability should be able to live in a home built for their needs, close to amenities, and with choice over their own in-home support services. All Summer Housing developments feature our 10+1 model: 10 apartments in a building of no less than 60 apartments, plus one “concierge” apartment with staff on site 24-hours a day to provide support in an emergency. Our apartments not only meet but exceed the criteria set out by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) for Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA). We proudly participate in NDIA’s SDA Reference Group. Summer Housing is a not-for-profit organisation funded through the NDIA and the generosity of investors who, like us, believe people with disability should have choice and control over WHERE and HOW they live.
