Walkin In Memphis: Annual Down Syndrome Awareness Walk

dsamemphis.ezeventsolutions.com

Life is full of curveballs. The greatest curveball life ever threw Rachel (my wife) & I came on July 8th, 2015 when our daughter Marley Grace Greer was born. Marley, who is now 6 years old, was born w/ Down syndrome. And just like anyone else, she can accomplish anything she sets her mind to, but there are times where extra resources may be needed to help guide her down that path. An invaluable resource Marley benefits from is the Down Syndrome Association of Memphis & The Mid-South (DSAM). They provide support, services & a place where individual diversity & equality can be celebrated! It is a lasting comfort for Rachel & I knowing that loving & meaningful resources will be available for Marley now & well into her future as her needs change. So in Marley's honor, along w/ every individual w/ down syndrome, we decided to start an annual fundraiser on World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) each year to raise funds for the DSAM & to celebrate the wonders & enriching values individuals w/ Down Syndrome bless us w/ every day! Each year on March 21st (World Down Syndrome Day), Josh walks for 14+ hours across the Memphis area, formally stopping at 21 well-known Memphis attractions to take pictures w/ supporters, self-advocates, sponsors, businesses, public figures & many others. At each stop, Josh raises the global symbol for DS, a blue & yellow butterfly, to take a picture in support of Down Syndrome awareness & inclusion! The goal each year is to raise $21,000!!! 100% of proceeds go to the DSAM so they can continue to enrich & expand programs in the Mid-South community for the individuals & families we serve! How Can You Get Involved? Easy! On March 21st: 1) Put on your best blue & yellow gear, take pictures & tag us on social media w/ #WIM2022! 2) Meet Josh at one of his stops & take a picture w/ him. 3) Make a donation & buy some WIM apparel. 4) Join us at our 03/18 WDSD Event Celebration 5)v Help us by liking, sharing & following our social media accounts
